When I was growing up, I didn’t exactly dream of owning my own business. But, I did dream of running entire companies in my office skirt, button down, and high heels. Owning my own business didn’t even cross my mind. It’s almost as if I didn’t believe it’d be possible. This dream of mine didn’t exactly change until I was in college. I was majoring in Marketing, had my certification in Advertising, and was specializing further in social media. I was working on a Dr. Pepper Snapple campaign as the Account Planner to soon present to their representatives.
One day, our whole agency was arguing over the direction of the campaign. I remember sitting there next to my Account Executive, quietly listening to the whole thing. I turned to her and laughed, “I don’t know if I could put up with this my entire life.” Little did I realize, back then God was already tugging my heart towards running my own business based on my hosting heart and a passion I quickly fell in love with: weddings.
“You mustn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.”
The cat’s officially out of the bag, and you may have seen the announcement across our social media outlets yesterday. I’ve got some very exciting news for the future of Cathy Nugent Weddings. While we will still remain an Atlanta, Georgia based business…
We’re EXPANDING to Charlotte, North Carolina!
I’m sure this announcement may have some of you confused, so I wanted to write a blog post with more details about what this would mean for my business and my #cathynugentbrides. We are not moving to Charlotte, but rather we are adding another location in which to provide our services.
When I brought my business full time after moving to Atlanta, I never dreamed of all that I was blessed with in the first year. From being welcomed with open arms by the vendor community and jumping on board to help plan The Planner’s Suite Conference for 2018 to having the most amazing couples and the opportunity to plan breathtakingly beautiful styled shoots, it’s been one blessing after another. Needless to say, I didn’t even dream of the opportunity to operate my business in more than one location for more than just an occasional out-of-town wedding.
That’s the funny thing about how God works. He can move mountains with just a little bit of faith. And, my business has been continuously filled with tiny leaps of faith. I knew when the opportunity presented itself that I was going to be taking yet another.
One thing you may not know about my business is that I love to partner with my mother on wedding days. In fact: If you’ve seen me running around at a wedding with an assistant who looks a lot like me, that’s actually because I get my good looks from her. (Surprise, she’s my mom! Ha!) While she hasn’t been able to help me in the day-to-day operations of my business because of her own business as a hair stylist, I love getting to join forces with her on wedding days. As a parent herself, she really can make the wedding experience just as perfect for the parents as I do for the couple.
When I got news a few months back that my parents were looking to move to Charlotte, I knew that this would be the perfect opportunity to team up full-time with my mom. She’d be retiring her business after the move, and we’d be closer in distance than I was when I moved out at 18 and lived in the same state. (Isn’t that crazy how you can drive forever and not leave Texas?) She’s my best friend, biggest help, and understands my way of running my business more than anyone I know. Not only could I now bring her on as my full-time assistant, but she’d be able to act as my associate planner in our new location.
So, what does this all mean?
Your Favorite Planner, Now in Two Locations
Like I mentioned above, I will be bringing my mother on as my full-time assistant in the upcoming months. She will also be able to act as my associate planner in Charlotte as I travel back and forth from Atlanta.
The Same High-Quality, Personalized Service
With client experience my top priority here at Cathy Nugent Weddings, we’ll be able to confidently foster more personal relationships with our clients and give them the hands-on attention they deserve when it comes to planning their wedding.
Waived Travel Fees
For my Charlotte area couples, I will be waiving travel fees just as I would for my normal Atlanta based couples. This means the same high-quality, personalized service with no additional fees for being out-of-town! The Charlotte area is currently the only location outside of Atlanta that I will be offering this for.
