I found myself giggling this morning as I sent my husband a text that read,
“It’s officially my birth month. Let’s start celebrating the blessing to your life that is me.”
He responded with a string of ‘haha’s. But, what’s really funny is that I wasn’t even joking. Other than the fact I turn another year older this month, I really could not be more excited for September. The beginnings of fall weather, pumpkin spice everything popping up where ever you turn, and my dog procrastinating to go potty even more now that there are leaves on the ground to roll in. Not to mention, the most exciting thing about September other than the return of SEC Football and the Simplified Planner launch is that we are one step closer to Christmas. (Is it acceptable to decorate my house yet?)
My journey with Powersheets is still on-going with questions on how August seemed to disappear even faster than July did. I’ve found myself really falling love with my Powersheets and the progress I’ve already seen the past couple months. If you’ve been following along with my monthly prep posts, you’ll remember that a huge goal of mine for this 6-month Powersheets Journey was to start living a healthier lifestyle. While I had a strong focus on getting physically healthier, it is really much more than that. I want to also grow in my faith, cultivate more joy, run a heartfelt business, and cultivate intentional friendships. All in all, this journey is about being the best person I could be for myself, my husband, and my clients. I even signed up to run a half marathon in December. (So, you could say I officially jumped off the deep end.)

When I was prepping my August Powersheets, I was definitely feeling a little guilty about how parts of my July went. At the same time, I was filled with grace. It’s okay to not be perfect. While things don’t always go as we initially plan, I got to look back at a great month and celebrate a lot of amazing things that happened. My goal for August was to simplify my tending list, ‘just do it’ with no excuses, and focus on doing better than July.
In the end, that’s exactly what I feel like I did.
I’m actually pretty proud of the progress that I made in August. Kesia Marie Photography and I had an amazing styled shoot with a dream team of vendors at The McGarity House. Meanwhile, I continued to be consistent in my quiet times, reading, and being intentional with my friendships. I also applied my ‘just do it, no excuses’ attitude to healthy eating and exercise and am already feeling so much better and full of energy. Not to mention, I lost a few pounds! Rob and I even had a few date nights despite our crazy, hectic schedule.
As I sit here in this crowded Starbucks (because let’s face it, no one in Atlanta seems to go to work on a Friday), I am especially grateful for the better weather we’ve had lately in Georgia as well as officially joining an getting plugged in to our new church near our soon-to-be new home! Meanwhile, I’m choosing grace over guilt about the scale – because it’s the changes that I’m making that matter, and the rest will surely follow. However, I am celebrating huge progress with my running! Not only can I run longer and farther than before. But, I’m improving each and every day. I’m especially grateful for my sweet husband keeping me on track and pushing me to not give up. We’ve even agreed on an incentive where when I get to my goal weight, I’ll be adding another LV to my purse collection. (YAS, QUEEN.)
Looking Forward to September
Looking forward to September, I feel like there’s a lot to be excited about. A good lesson I learned throughout August is that I can, in fact, do it. I just need to believe that I can. Hence, my one focal goal or word for this month is to stay focused on what matters most.
Throughout the month of September, I plan to continue a lot of the same action steps on my tending list from August in order to continue cultivating those ongoing goals. The new goals and action steps on my tending list for September include a bigger weight loss goal than August, achieving a longer non-stop running distance, celebrating my birthday, and even a RE-BRAND for Cathy Nugent Weddings!
Cathy Nugent Re-Brand
You heard it first, friends! After a lot of prayer and an overwhelming amount of amazing responses from getting vulnerable and sharing some ideas with some fellow lady bosses, I will be going through a re-brand and a re-structure for my business. This will be taking place slowly over the month of September with a goal completion / ‘launch’ date being on my birthday – September 27th! (Because why not make it even more of a party!) My website will remain live over the course of the next month while changes are slowly being made.
