Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things.
Happy Fall, friends! I’m bringing back the beloved #FavesFriday series just in time for my favorite half of the year: Fall and Winter. Now that you have the Sound of Music soundtrack stuck in your head (and not to mention, you’ve already sang it three times since you first read it above), it’s time to kick off this series revamp with my fall favorites for the 2017 season!
My Fall 2017 Favorites
1. Comfy Chic
It’s finally fall, and you know what that means!
But, if you’re from the south, it means absolutely nothing. It’s still 90 degrees as the stores start taunting you to wear a sweater than you’ll melt in with three steps outside. However, you may be like me. Once September 22nd came around, I was fully committed to Fall. I don’t care how much I sweat in my sweater. (Okay, maybe I care just a little bit.) But, when it comes to fall, I say bring on all the cozy cardigans and graphic tees. It may be as fall as we get right now, here in Georgia, but maybe you’ll melt just a tad bit less.
Not only is it extremely comfortable for the boss lady like me that works from home most days. But it’s a super cute and casual look for when you meet up with your girl friends for brunch like I did below. How cute is this ‘You Had Me at Pumpkin Spice’ tee from Ruby’s Rubbish! Paired with my staple black cardigan, capris, and my go-to sandals, it was the best outfit for running around town on my birthday. Also, needless to say, I think my last minute decision to throw on a hat as I walked out the door made it perfect.

After getting my ‘You Had Me at Pumpkin Spice’ tee as a gift from my mother-in-love, I became obsessed with the Ruby’s Rubbish brand. Their shirts are so comfy yet beyond cute. They’re extremely easy to pair with just about everything in your closet. I’ve already picked out my next ten or so that I’m dying to order. (Not even joking!)

Coffee Mugs (filled with Coffee!)
Needless to say, calligraphy mugs are the perfect accessory to feed my (possibly unhealthy) coffee addiction. When I get an adorable new mug, I’m beyond excited for my coffee the next morning. Whether that’s an issue or not, I think we can all agree that there’s just something about a cute coffee mug that can empower you for the rest of your day. I am especially in love with mugs from Jenna Kast Studio, Chalkfulloflove, and Rachel Allene. It’s time to take back our mornings with the most darling companion.

I have always loved writing. I have so much respect for the boss ladies in my life who have turned this passion of theirs into a flourishing business. However, I fell even more in love with calligraphy and lettering after I purchased Chalkfulloflove’s Handlettering 101 workbook last year. I realized soon after that what better thing to pair with our fall pumpkin spice addictions with than lettered pumpkin decor! Whether you display them in your home or on your front porch, they are a darling way to make your home feel more open, inviting, and cozy. After all, I guarantee anyone being hosted in your home is going to mention them.
Another fun idea: Grab your girl friends, your favorite bottle of wine, and open your home this fall for a craft night filled with decorating and lettering pumpkins! Go a step further by putting on a fall movie and making your favorite fall cocktail to share.
Don’t want to worry about real pumpkins rotting in the southern heat? Spoiler alert! I’ve done this with both fake and real pumpkins. (The above photo is with a cheap fake pumpkin.) While I personally love it more with real pumpkins, there are so many cute fake pumpkins out right now in stores like Target. Take a look at these gorgeous gold and white pumpkins from Target that you can easily keep from year to year. They are definitely gorgeous pieces that can be easily incorporated into your existing decor theme.

If there’s one thing that I love above all about fall it is the candles that will take hold of my home. I sure hope your senses will be able to take it if you step into my house during the fall. But, if you love Kirklands and can survive their store, it’s safe to say you can survive my home. (I’m happy to say it’s not that strong!) There’s just something about candles that makes a home feel so much more cozy, calming, and inviting. I would have my house smelling like fall candles all year round if I could get away with it with my husband.
I’ve never been a fan of sweet scents, so fall and winter are my favorite time of year to stock up on candles. I burn them almost all-day as I sit in my office working or all-evening when I’m relaxing with my husband over dinner or our latest Netflix obsession. While I am no stranger to burning any candles I can get my hands on, my favorite brand has to be Yankee Candle. I feel like they last longer than other candles I’ve burned and the scent sticks around longer. I’m in love with ‘spicy’ scents and have listed some of my current favorites below for you to check out. No kidding, I probably have at least three of each of these that I rotate between. I feel like my house is in a constant state of spiced pumpkin, apple cider, cinnamon, or kitchen spice Yankee candles. At this rate, I’ll be needing to stock up again before the season ends.
