Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things.
Winter has hit the south harder than I’ve ever seen this year, and it honestly doesn’t make me want to take down my Christmas decorations just yet. With the cold weather keeping us indoors and cozying up by the fireplace, I couldn’t help but still think about all the things I love most about this season. Fall and Winter has always been my favorite half of the year, and I’ve fallen in love with the snow days and snuggle weather that Mother Nature has blessed us with. So now that you have the Sound of Music soundtrack stuck in your head (and you’ve probably already sang it three times since you first read it above), it’s time for another #FavesFriday!

My Winter 2018 Favorites
The Simplified Planner
I’m a huge stationary lover. Growing up, my mom would put office supplies in my stockings for Christmas because I’d rather have a new set of pens or journals than candy. It was actually my favorite part of back-to-school shopping too. (Y’all, I was definitely a little bit of a nerd in school!) To this day, one of my favorite things about the new year is starting a new planner.
When it comes to planners, I’ve pretty much tried them all. I used simple Target planners in school, Erin Condren planners in college, Plum Paper planners for my business after graduation, and now The Simplified Planner for it all. I loved the Erin Condren and Plum Paper planners because I could easily customize them for all the many things I needed them for. But, I soon realized that it got so overwhelming. I fell in love with The Simplified Planner’s daily edition because each day was its own clean slate and its own page where I could map out my day, my to-do list, my meals, and notes. Instead of being reminded how crazy each week was, I can now focus on one day at a time while referring back to the bigger picture.
- Check out The Simplified Planner, here. – Sold out but launching back in May!
- Other Planners I Love: Erin Condren, Plum Paper, Rifle Paper Co., Anthropologie, and Kate Spade
Cultivate What Matters Powersheets + Write the Word Journals
Another one of my favorite things about the new year is setting goals. Back in June, I went on a mission to find direction in both my life and my business while cultivating more of what truly matters in my life. I had been seeing so much about Powersheets, and I decided to finally give it a try. I ordered a 6-month set to finish out the year and to see what they’re all about. Needless to say, I completely fell in love. Not only did Powersheets allow me to dig deep and get real with myself about what I wanted out of this life, but it’s been the little bit of ‘check’ I need to make sure that I stay on the right path.
When I dove into my Powersheets and started following the Cultivate What Matters gals, I couldn’t help but fall in love with all the products that they offered.
More specifically, I had been eyeing the Write the Word Journals for so long now without pulling the trigger. At $22 each, they were a little more expensive than I wanted to spend for a journal, so I put them on my Christmas list this year. After receiving and starting the Cultivate Faith journal, I don’t think my quiet times will ever look the same way again. I especially love that, on each page, there’s get a specially-selected key verse to write out, along with space to write your thoughts, prayers, or whatever God places on your heart. Needless to say, I will be moving on to the other journals with this one is finished!
- Check out Cultivate What Matters Powersheets, here. – Sold out of one-year planners, but six-month planners are still in stock!

My Cliche Health New Years Resolution
When it comes to setting goals and planning for the new year, we often all have some of the same, over-done, and cliche resolutions pertaining to our health. This year is no different for me. While we actually kick-started our health journey back in July when we started training for our half marathon that took place in December, our diet still lagged behind. After my husband’s health scare that came in December in the form of a minor heart attack, we decided it was time to take our health seriously and start living a healthier and cleaner lifestyle.
Okay, so I don’t necessarily like the gym.
If you were to ask me what hell was like, I’d probably say it is an intimidating weight room full of body builders and spandex. Not to mention, you’re terrified in the corner not knowing what to do and going nowhere running in place on a treadmill. Should I also include that the devil would be teasing you with nachos and donuts?
While I was an athlete in high school and went to the gym and workout classes with my girl friends, I found myself terrified to go to a gym by myself when I moved to Atlanta. Not to mention, workout classes can be a little bit on the expensive side. That’s where my love for Aaptiv came in. (You can read about my love for it, here!) It’s an on-demand audio fitness app that combines the guidance of a trainer with the perfect playlist to give you a fresh way to work out where ever you are. My favorite workouts? Spin class and half marathon training program- party of one, please!
- Spin Bike – I have an older one that’s extremely similar!
- My Dream Spin Bike: Peloton Bike
- My Favorite Saucony Running Shoes
- Beatsx Earphones – dying to purchase these!

Cozy Farmhouse Decor + Blankets + Candles
We’ve officially been living into #ahostinghome since Thanksgiving, and I’m still trying to unpack, decorate, and put it all together in between the holiday madness. Now that we’re in a home to hopefully plant some roots here in Georgia, this is really our first home that we will get to decorate and make our own. There’s honestly so much we are wanting to do with our new home, and I find myself growing more and more excited by the day. With Liz Marie’s blog and Pinterest on what feels like the Internet speed dial, I’ve been using some spare minutes at the end of the day to dream, design, and plan out our new space.
One of the things I love most about winter is how cozy everything gets in the home. I love filling my living room with knitted blankets, fluffy pillows, and my favorite scented candles. There’s just something about it that makes a home feel so much more cozy, calming, and inviting. As a woman who loves to gather with loved ones around a coffee table and a fire, having a cozy space to retreat is a dream!

Essential Oils + Aromatherapy Diffusers
Unpopular opinion alert! I have to admit, I didn’t really understand the essential oils craze until just a couple weeks ago. My mom has always been into oils, and she’s been giving them to me for different purposes for years. This year for Christmas, my mom asked for an aromatherapy necklace, so I ordered her the cutest one below from MidnightsMojo with some travel cases of oils.
Meanwhile, as I started looking into necklaces and doing research on oils to buy her, I started becoming fascinated with it. I was officially sold when we went to visit my parents for Christmas and she had her diffuser going in the kitchen. It was so calming and relaxing like my favorite candles, yet I didn’t have to worry about walking out of the room with a flame going. Now I seriously can’t wait to get one for myself! I’ve been eyeing this one from Kohl’s.
- Aromatherapy Diffuser
- Lavender Essential Oil – for calming and relaxation!
- Eucalyptus Essential Oil – for when you feel sick!
- Aromatherapy Necklace from MidnightsMojo – amazing Etsy purchase!
Do you remember when I ran my half-marathon in December sporting Lipsense in attempt to put it to the ultimate test? After seeing it last through the sweat, tears, face wipes, and drinks that came with running 13.1 miles in hot and humid Orlando, Florida, there’s no doubt in my mind that it could survive the longest of wedding days.
Brides aren’t going to want to worry about re-applying lipstick on their wedding day. Not to mention, they’re not going to want to worry about how it looks in their photos throughout the night. (It’s a real worry that brides have!) I’m super confident to say that I’ve found the secret to solve all those deep-down worries and lead to a truly stress-free wedding day. Now I can’t wait to recommend it to all my #cathynugentbrides!
